Cyclosporine side effects can be quite severe and dangerous, so if your doctor is recommending this medication you must be aware of the warning signs to look for. Please see our Cyclosporine side effects section below.
Cyclosporine is the generic name for Sangcya. It is sometimes referred to as Sangcya Cyclosporine. Sangcya is also marketed globally under the names Ciclosporina, Gengraf, Modusik-A Ofteno, Neolem, Neoral, Sandimmune, and Supremunn.
The FDA approved this medication in 1995 to help prevent organ rejection in transplant patients. In 1997, Neoral (one brand name of Cyclosporine) was approved by the FDA as a psoriasis treatment. This medication is a systemic medication, which can only be obtained by prescription.
Sangcya Cyclosporine works by suppressing the immune system, which helps slow the growth of skin cells. Anyone with a weak immune system should avoid this drug. Women are advised not to become pregnant while taking this medication. Other who should avoid taking Cyclosporine include: Women who are breastfeeding, individuals with abnormal kidney function, anyone with high blood pressure, patients with malignancies, or a history of malignancies (other than basal or squamous cell skin cancers), people who are taking other immunosuppressive drugs, people who are undergoing radiation treatment.
How Well Does It Work
Psoriasis sufferers usually see rapid relief from symptoms. It is not uncommon for patients to see results after 2 weeks. It usually takes 3-4 months to reach a more complete level of control. Cyclosporine 100 mg is the most common dosage. If rapid improvement is not essential, your doctor initially may keep the dosage low. If, after four weeks, improvement is not seen, dosage is gradually increased at one- or two-week intervals. For more severe psoriasis, including pustular or erythrodermic psoriasis, doctors often start with a high dose and gradually reduce it once patients have responded.
When Cyclosporine treatment is stopped, psoriasis usually reappears, called a “relapse.” This relapse typically occurs between six and 16 weeks.
Extended use of Cyclosporine by transplant patients is well established. However, long-term experience as a treatment for psoriasis, is limited. Therefore, use of the drug is not currently recommended by the FDA for longer than one year. However, there are no specific guidelines for how long a patient must be off Cyclosporine before resuming treatment with the drug. Some doctors may prescribe the drug for more than one year.
How Is It Used
Like all medications, the directions for Sangcya Cyclosporine should be carefully followed. Sangcya Cyclosporine is taken orally, as either a capsule or a liquid.
We will now discuss the Cyclosporine side effects, and then discuss better and safer treatment options.
Cyclosporine Side Effects
Cyclosporine (Sangcya Cyclosporine) side effects are common. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: upset stomach, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, increased hair growth, sinusitis, breast enlargement.
If you experience any of the following symptoms, or any other unusual reactions, call your doctor immediately: tremors, overgrowth of the gums, unusual bleeding or bruising, sore throat, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes, seizures, decreased urination, swelling (feet, ankles, lower legs, and hands), weight gain, headache, changes in vision, lack of control over body movement, confusion.
Another significant Sangcya Cyclosporine side effect is increased risk of developing skin malignancies.
Due to the dangerous Cyclosporine side effects, and the fact that it is not safe to use long term, we recommend that you consider a better and safer treatment.
Better And Safer Treatment Options
Conventional medicines like Cylosporine only treat the symptoms of psoriasis. They do not address the fundamental cause. This only provides temporary relief.
There are many in the health care field that believe psoriasis is curable by using the right natural treatments. They believe that treating psoriasis from the inside and from the outside can reduce or cure it. Topical treatments from the outside will relieve symptoms and provide temporary relief. Treatment from the inside will help build up your immune system, and reduce or eliminate future outbreaks. Building up your immune system is the key to long-term psoriasis relief.
