If you have acne scars, you are probably interested in an acne scar cure, and you probably want it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there is really no such thing as the “fast removal of acne scars.” All methods of getting rid of acne scars take a little time. Multiple treatments are often required.
Preventing Acne Scars
Of course, the best “acne scar cure” is to prevent acne and scarring in the first place. You can best prevent acne by washing your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Avoid alcohol-based products because they will dry out and irritate your skin. Some people believe that eating greasy or fatty foods will cause acne, but that has not been proven. Still, eating a healthful diet won’t hurt.
If you do have acne, continue to wash your face several times a day with a gentle cleanser. Don’t pick at or pop pimples because that will make scarring more likely. You can use an over-the-counter product for treating acne, but again make sure not to use an alcohol-based product.
You can also try this home remedy for acne: Combine one tablespoon sour cream, one tablespoon plain yogurt, one tablespoon oatmeal, and a little lemon juice. Apply as a face mask. Leave on ten minutes, then rinse. This is best used to prevent acne, but can also be tried as an acne scar cure.
If your acne is severe, or if it doesn’t respond to over-the-counter products, you should see a dermatologist. There are prescription medications that can help. The more severe your acne is, the more likely you are to have acne scars. Therefore you should get treatment in a timely manner.
Non-Prescription Scar Products
For an acne scar cure, you can investigate the options offered over-the-counter at your local pharmacy. You will probably find several different products, and it can be confusing to choose among them all. You can ask the pharmacist for advice, but he or she may not be familiar with all the options. You could also consult with a dermatologist for a recommendation of a non-prescription product.
For a quick but temporary fix, you can apply an ice pack to your face. This will tighten the pores, making the skin appear smoother.
Scar Treatments Offered By Dermatologists
There are many treatments offered by dermatologists for the removal of acne scars. Most of these do not provide a fast removal of acne scars, however, because multiple treatments are almost always required.
Treatments offered by dermatologists include dermabrasion, chemical peels, and laser treatments. All are effective with multiple treatments. However, all cause severe irritation to the skin, and can be quite painful. Your skin may be red and crusty for a couple of weeks after a treatment. Dermabrasion usually causes the skin to bleed. And of course, all of these treatments are very expensive. None of these offer a fast removal of acne scars.
There is another treatment offered by dermatologists that does provide a more fast removal of acne scars. A punch technique, which is generally only used on deep scars, involves removing the scar with a tool called a punch tool. A punch tool is the tool normally used to take skin biopsies. It removes the scar, and the hole that is left is either sutured closed or filled with skin taken from elsewhere on the body. If you have multiple scars, the doctor may prefer to remove only a few at a time.
